05 Tribal Location Changes

Historical Location: Historic homeland was roughly 1.6 million acres. “Extended densely forested slopes of coast range in the east to the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean in the west from Tenmile creek (Lane County) in the north to a point halfway between mouths of Whiskey Run and Cut Creek in the South.” (62). The map below depicts the boundaries of the historic homelands of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw peoples.

Recent Location: Many tribal members reside along the Oregon Coast (Near Coos Head where Tribal Head Quarters are located) and the Florence Casino.

Here is where our Google Earth tour would be placed on the website.
