-The confederated tribes still maintain a strong connection to old ways of life (practice of song/dance, regalia making, basketmaking, canoe construction, tool making, crafts, belief system) and pass this way of life on to younger generations through oral history lessons, instruction and participation in cultural activities.
-(pg. 77) “Today, the Confederated Tribes are the only federally recognized tribe in Oregon to have secured a financial settlement or land restoration from the U.S for taking of ancestral land”.
-2005: The Confederated Tribes regained ownership of former military facility at Coos Head ( a culturally significant part of the tribes ancestral lands.
-Currently, the Confederated Tribes has nearly 900 tribal members.
-Coos Head has been transformed into a facility dedicated to support tribal government programs such has housing, dental care, health services, mental health counseling, educational services, employment assistance, natural resource management, cultural development and resource protection, realty management, transportation planning, law enforcement, and tribal court services.
-Additionally, the Confederated Tribes have created a new source of revenue to support services listed above in June 2004.
